About the Squadron
One of the largest national youth programs in Canada.
The Royal Canadian Air Cadet program develops leadership, citizenship, and physical fitness in youth — while stimulating an interest in the activities of the Canadian Forces.
Leadership
From flight to squadron level, cadets take on real responsibility and learn to lead by example.
Citizenship
Service to community is at the heart of everything we do — from parades to volunteer projects.
Aviation
Glider and power flying scholarships, drone operations, and rocketry give cadets real wings.
Adventure
Biathlon, marksmanship, sports, survival weekends — the squadron lives in the field as much as the parade square.
Skills for Life
Effective speaking, debate, first aid, and music programs build cadets into confident adults.
Friendship
The bonds formed at 8 Globemaster last long after a cadet retires the uniform.
Our Story
A decade going the distance.
8 Globemaster RCACS was established on November 1, 2012, in Richmond Hill. From a founding cohort of about 70 cadets, the squadron has grown to over 250 members, training the next generation under the leadership of Captain Herman Li and a dedicated officer team.
The squadron is named after the Boeing C-17 Globemaster III, the workhorse of the Royal Canadian Air Force—an aircraft built to go the distance, just like our cadets.
