About Us
The 8 Globemaster Squadron
Established November 1, 2012 in Richmond Hill, Ontario.
8 Globemaster Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron was stood up on November 1, 2012, with a founding cohort of around 70 cadets. In just over a decade, the squadron has grown to more than 250 active members and become one of the most active in the region.
Successive commanding officers — Majors Wayne Westernacher-Schneider, Ryan Schwarz, and Paul Yu, and now Captain Herman Li — have built a tradition of disciplined training, strong community ties, and opportunities cadets carry into adult life.
Our motto
“Go the Distance.” A reflection of both the aircraft we are named for and the ambition we ask of every cadet.
